The first lady of house
Shaping dancefloors
Kate Monroe has commanded dancefloors and created soundtracks for some of Australia’s most celebrated events, including Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, Sleaze Ball, Harbour Party and Field Day, as well as Pride celebrations across Australia, New York, Los Angeles and Asia.
Kate spent more than a decade behind the decks at Sydney’s legendary Home Nightclub, helping shape the sound of Australia’s dance music culture.
Beyond the booth
Kate has been a creative force behind some of Sydney’s best-loved Sunday house sessions. From Milk ’N’ 2 Sugars at the Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel and her long-running Odyssey House residency to SUGAR—the soulful, funk and disco-house event she created with GI Jode—Kate has spent her career creating spaces where music brings people together.
Kiddo Disco
That same belief in the power of a shared dancefloor led Kate to create Kate Monroe presents Kiddo Disco, a professionally produced family experience that has brought children, parents and carers together through music, dance and play at Vivid Sydney, Barangaroo, City of Sydney events, schools and community festivals.
Cultural events & Celebrations
Kate’s curation of major cultural events and large-scale celebrations also includes a series of dinners with Nigella Lawson as part of Vivid Sydney and 14 years shaping the music for the Lord Mayor’s New Year’s Eve celebrations across the Sydney Opera House precinct—creating the atmosphere for one of the world’s most recognised New Year’s Eve events.
Today
Kate brings that depth of musical knowledge, creative direction and event experience into private celebrations—creating soundtracks that move naturally from the first drink to the final dance.
